I always get jealous comments from other birders saying I wish my tripod did that. For hide use however they are the best due to the way the legs open out. The once black plastic is now a pale grey and I fear becoming brittle. I have used a slik 88 tripod with a nikon spotting scope continuously for the last 16yrs. It would be intersting if you could let us know how you get on. Spare parts are available from Sliks importers, their contact details are available here: I do not know which spare parts are still available for this tripod, judging by the amount of the Quick Release Posts we sell, there are still a great number in use today (both in the UK and Worldwide). Is it possible to find a replacement winding handle for my Slik 88 tripod
MODIFIED SLIK U212 SERIES
It is many, many years since Slik discontinued the 88 series, so I can not remember the differences between the specific models (I think the N was silver coloured).Īll of the 88 series did use the same quick release post, Slik have also only ever had one quick release post (other models have used a flat quick release plate). I need a quick release post so I can attach to my digital camera but don t know if it will fit this specific model can you tell me any info you have on this model Thanks I bought a Slik88 N when we were stationed in the UK MANY MANY years ago. It just drops into the hole on the top of the tripod, the little (usually grey) lever is pulled out to enable the post to drop fully in, then turned to lock it in place. The hole on the top of the tripod is a little bigger as the post tends to be quite loose until locked in with a camera (or whatever) on top.įrom your description, it sounds like the quick release post is missing. I think the specifications shown are correct, 25mm long and 18mm wide/diameter. We do not have any in stock to measure (they are on order, of which about 1/4 are already sold).

therefore I just need to check the diameter. Would you please tell me the diameter of the base (kurned section). We have the said tripod and bits are missing but on the top section there is a holed piece with a clip which appears to work as a locking device. If the diameter is right then I assume the Quick release post just drops in the hole and the release clip is engaged. Ref SLIK 88 series tripods.Ref Your quick release post. The bit that screws into the scope/camera/whatever has a standard 1/4" Whitworth thread. What is the diameter of the actual screw part on the slik release post? Our only suggestion would be to contact your local Slik distributor, (there is a list of global distributors at their international website ) who should be able to either repair the tripod or supply the spare parts required. We have no idea how these tripods are put together, so can not offer any advice. The parts inside one of the legs pop out whenever I open that leg, it sims as if the spring is not strong enough to push the side parts to hold the whole thing in place. Yes you can collect one, we have them in stock so that is not a problem. The post fits the Slik 88, Slik 88 Black Diamond and the Slik U212 Deluxe tripods. The Slik posts are still available, we sell loads of them. We get a huge amount of business from that retailer! You could always try adapting one, not sure how, probably by removing the existing thread and replacing it with a longer one.ĭo you have these in stock, Jessops have never heard of this item and told me it was discontinued at the same time as the tripod.Ĭould I collect one, I only live in Peterborough? I have measured a few of the ones that we have in stock just in case the thread varies, unfortunately, they are all the same. These are the only ones listed in the price list I am afraid. Is it possible to get the quick release post with the screw 1/8th inch longer ?
