I always get jealous comments from other birders saying I wish my tripod did that. For hide use however they are the best due to the way the legs open out. The once black plastic is now a pale grey and I fear becoming brittle. I have used a slik 88 tripod with a nikon spotting scope continuously for the last 16yrs. It is many, many years since Slik discontinued the 88 series, so I can not remember the differences between the specific models (I think the N was silver coloured).Īll of the 88 series did use the same quick release post, Slik have also only ever had one quick release post (other models have used a flat quick release plate). I need a quick release post so I can attach to my digital camera but don t know if it will fit this specific model can you tell me any info you have on this model Thanks I bought a Slik88 N when we were stationed in the UK MANY MANY years ago. It just drops into the hole on the top of the tripod, the little (usually grey) lever is pulled out to enable the post to drop fully in, then turned to lock it in place. The hole on the top of the tripod is a little bigger as the post tends to be quite loose until locked in with a camera (or whatever) on top.įrom your description, it sounds like the quick release post is missing. I think the specifications shown are correct, 25mm long and 18mm wide/diameter. We do not have any in stock to measure (they are on order, of which about 1/4 are already sold).

The parts inside one of the legs pop out whenever I open that leg, it sims as if the spring is not strong enough to push the side parts to hold the whole thing in place.
